  • How do I activate Luminar 2018?

    1. Launch Luminar 2018.

    2. Click "Activate" on the welcome screen and enter your email + activation code, then click the “Activate” button.





    3. To activate Luminar from inside the software, click on Luminar 2018 in the top menu and click "Activate..". Then enter your activation code + email.


    Once you’re done activating your new software, take an extra minute to set up your very own My Macphun Account here: https://macphun.com/user/signup. Thereafter, you’ll be able to to access your license keys and download links for your Macphun software, plus enter photo contests and view exclusive videos.

  • Where can I download Luminar 2018?

    If for some reason you didn’t receive an e-mail with the download link, you may always download the trial version on https://macphun.com/luminar and activate it with your e-mail and activation code.

  • I’ve purchased Luminar 2018. However, it doesn’t show in my Macphun Account.

    Please note that Luminar 2018 will appear in My Software section of your Macphun Account only after you activate it with your license key and the e-mail you’ve used to create your Macphun Account. If that is not the case, you’re welcome to reach our support team: https://macphun.com/support

  • How do I manually check for updates?

    Luminar 2018 is designed to receive all free software updates automatically. However, if for some reason this doesn't occur, or you want to make sure you're using the latest version, simply choose "Check for updates" in the Luminar 2018 menu in the upper left-hand corner (near the Apple logo).


    If you’ve purchased Luminar 2018 through the App Store, all the updates will happen through the App Store. To check if the update is available, launch the Mac App Store application, and click Updates from the top bar. You'll see a list of pending application updates: find Luminar 2018 and click the Update button.

  • Can I batch process my photos in Luminar 2018?

    Yes! Luminar 2018 has a powerful built-in batch processing tool which can be used to post-process multiple images in a few clicks. You can apply any of the built-in presets, or those you’ve imported or created yourself, as well as specify image size, format and other export options. You will see the "Batch processing" option upon launching Luminar 2018.



    You can also start batch processing when Luminar 2018 is open by clicking on the File > Batch Processing.. menu or simply by using combination CMD+B. Thereafter, choose the images you’d like to batch process and set the appropriate controls in the Batch Processing options window.


  • How do I install Luminar 2018 as a plug-in?

    To install Luminar 2018 as a plug-in, launch the application as a standalone and open any image. Then click on the Luminar 2018 menu > Install Plug-ins... In the resulting dialog, click on the Install button next to your desired host applications. Please note that you’ll be asked to enter the password to your Mac.



  • How do I export a photo from my Lightroom library to Luminar 2018?

    First of all, please make sure that you have installed the plug-in for Lightroom and restarted Lightroom.

    Choose your image in Lightroom that you want to work on with Luminar 2018 and Right click with your mouse to view the context sensitive menu. Select Export > Export to Luminar 2018. You have the option to choose the Open Source Files menu item or, if you've made any changes in Lightroom that you'd like Aurora HDR 2018 to utilize, you can also choose Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments menu item.



  • How do I edit a picture in Luminar 2018 while running Adobe Photoshop/Elements?

    First of all, please make sure that you have installed the plug-in for Photoshop and restarted Photoshop.

    To use the software with Photoshop, you’ll need to have a file opened already and choose the Filter > Macphun Software > Luminar 2018... menu to begin. Luminar 2018 will launch as a plug-in with the current image loaded.



  • How do I export a picture from Aperture to the Luminar 2018 plug-in for editing?

    Working with Luminar 2018 through Aperture is very similar to the way it behaves with Lightroom. Navigate to the file you wish to open in Luminar 2018, select it, and export to Luminar by right-clicking the images in the film strip and selecting Edit with Plug-in > Luminar 2018... or through the menus by selecting Photos > Edit with Plug-in > Luminar 2018…



  • Can I use Aurora HDR 2018 and Creative Kit apps as Luminar 2018 plug-ins?

    Yes, if you own any of the Creative Kit apps, you can use them as Luminar 2018 plug-ins. You can find them under Plugins option on the top bar menu.




  • Can I use my Adobe Photoshop plug-ins as Luminar 2018 plug-ins?


    Yes, you can use the most popular Adobe Photoshop plug-ins as Luminar 2018 plug-ins. You can find them under Plugins > Other option on the top bar menu. If some of the plug-ins are missing, you can choose Plugins > Choose plugin… and browse for .plugin files in Adobe Photoshop folder. See the screenshot:



  • How do I install and use Luminar 2018 as a Photos extension?

    First of all, please make sure the operating system on your Mac is not older than 10.11. To install Luminar 2018 as a Photos extension, please follow the steps below:


    1. Launch Luminar 2018 and load any photo.

    2. Launch Photos application and open the image you want to edit in Luminar 2018.

    3. In the top-right corner click on Edit > Extensions.

    4. Select Luminar 2018 as an extension for editing photos.

    5. Finally, Luminar 2018 will be available as an extension in Photos.



  • How do I install presets?

    If you're trying to install .mplumpack file with presets, just double-click (or right-click > Open with >Luminar 2018) on the .mplumpack file and all the presets will be installed automatically. Please make sure you're using the latest version of Luminar 2018.

    Also, you can add a preset pack by going to File > Add Custom Preset Pack in the main menu.


  • How do I create my own preset?

    After applying the adjustments you would like to be saved as a custom preset, simply choose Filters menu > Create Preset… or click on Save Filters Preset button as shown on the screenshot below:



    You’ll be able to name your preset and it will appear in the User Presets category.


  • How can I transfer my presets from Luminar Neptune to Luminar 2018?

    Launch Luminar Neptune and load any photo. After that, simply chose File > Show Presets Folder.... Luminar presets have the file extension .lmp.


    Presets folder contains all the presets you've added to Luminar Neptune.

    Custom folder contains the presets you've created. 

    To copy presets to Luminar 2018,  just choose File > Show Presets Folder... in Luminar 2018 and simply copy and paste desired presets (or folders with presets) from Luminar Neptune to Luminar 2018. 

  • Can I erase unwanted objects from the photo in Luminar?

    Yes, you can erase unwanted objects from your photos. Simply choose Tools menu > Erase and use the brush to mark those items you’d like erased. You can also use the Clone & Stamp tool.

  • I’ve heard that I can even replace a sky in Luminar - wow! How do I do that?

    Replacing skies is just one of many cool tricks you’ll be able to perform with Luminar 2018. Essentially, you open a “sky” image as a new separate layer and then resize and blend it into the original image.   • How to open a LUT file in Luminar 2018 on Mac?

    A LUT (Look Up Table) is, in essence, is like a preset. It is a modifier based on a mathematical formula between two images – the original image and the displayed image. A LUT can also be used creatively to impose a specific ‘look’ on a source image, such as creating a high contrast or bleach-bypass look. 


    Please choose LUT Mapping filter and click on Load LUT file… button to upload your custom LUT file. Currently, Luminar 2018 supports .cube, .3dl, .look and .csp formats.



  • How do I save my picture in Luminar 2018?

    To save a picture in Luminar 2018, click on the Save & Share button in the upper right corner of the Luminar window  to reveal a number of options or click on the File menu > Export... Select your desired export preferences (name, location, color space, format, etc) and hit Save.



  • What tools does Luminar 2018 offer for portrait photography?

    For your convenience, we have created a separate Workspace for Portrait photography. It includes such tools as Color Temperature, Accent - AI Filter, Tone, Saturation/Vibrance, Soft Glow, High Key, Vignette and Grain.
