Scott Kelby, famous photographer and educator, CEO of KelbyOne :

"I've been shooting portraits since I could pick up a camera! Macphun's Luminar software helps me quickly take my portraits in cool, creative directions. I think you’ll dig it!”

Trey Ratcliff, world famous photographer & traveller :

Luminar is currently only a way to edit your photos on Mac. I'm still using Lightroom to organize my photos. But you'll find the controls in Luminar are much more powerful than the ones in Lightroom. I'd also wager to say that Luminar has 5-7X as many control options as Lightroom.

Matt Granger, world-class photographer and educator:

Finally a creative editing software that has an intuitive layout that is simple to use and helps
me create unique looking images. Luminar is a great addition to my workflow — I can drop in
images and be confident I can quickly turnaround a cool image ready for sharing.

Will Burrard-Lucas, award-winning wildlife photographer:

Luminar is a fantastic RAW editor packed full of innovative features: the layer-based editing
is extremely powerful and flexible; the workspaces can be customised to perfectly reflect
my editing workflow; and the plethora of filters enable ultimate creative control.

Richard Harrington, Photofocus publisher:

Luminar is a welcome addition to my digital toolbox...even a software guru like me found that my control-freak expectations were met or exceeded. Highly recommended for all photographers who have a Mac and are looking for more options to change to look of their photos or fix tough problems with precise manual controls.

FAQ

  • What is the difference between Luminar and Creative Kit?

Luminar was created to become a one-stop solution for a wide range of photographers. At the same time, Luminar is fully integrated with Creative Kit apps, so you can easily export your photos directly from Luminar to any of the Creative Kit plug-ins.

  • Can I replace Aperture with Luminar?

Yes, if you’re talking about the photo editing part of Aperture app (or any other Mac photo software). Luminar brings one of the industry’s best selection of photo tools to enhance images. At the same time Aperture (just like Lightroom) is often used as an Asset Management tool, and this is what Luminar is missing for now. So if you keep your files in the Aperture or Lightroom library, then use Luminar editor as the plug-in to get a myriad of new tools to edit, enhance and fix your photos. If you keep your photos elsewhere, and use Aperture (or Lightroom) to only edit photos on Mac, then give Luminar an even closer look and consider it as the replacement.

  • What is the difference between Aurora HDR and Luminar?

Aurora HDR is dedicated to only one photography style - HDR photography. And it is the world’s most advanced Mac photo software for this kind of photography. Luminar is a universal photo editor, designed to perform a wide variety of image editing tasks. So if you want perfect HDR results, then nothing beats Aurora HDR. And if you want to get perfect portraits, landscapes, aerial photos and more - you should get Luminar for Mac.

  • Does it work as a plug-in?

Luminar works as the plug-in for Apple Aperture, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. It is also an Apple Photos extension for those of you who now use Photos to organize and manage photo assets on Mac. We don’t plan to make Luminar a plug-in to other software, besides those above. But we plan to allow other software work as Luminar plug-ins. Plus we are working on the browsing/management add-on to Luminar, so you can comfortably use it as the standalone software.

  • Can I use Luminar on multiple Macs?

Yes you can. Your license is valid on up to 5 Macs. Simply use the same email and activation code to register your software. Your license never expires and you can always contact Macphun to retrieve the lost license.
