How To Take Professional Pictures

One of the best ways to take professional pictures is to follow the right guidelines and keep them in practice. The journey from taking normal pictures to capturing professional pictures isn’t painful, but can be a long one.

However, to make you better at what you love, we have compiled all the tips that you need:

Invest in a Camera

Get a good camera with a stand. You cannot click professional photos without a professional camera. However, it isn’t a small investment as good cameras start from around $500 and can go as high as $5,000. Lenses also add up to the cost.

Adjust The Exposure

Firstly, let’s shed some light on what exposure is. It is nothing but light i.e brightness or darkness falling on the subject. If you do not adjust lighting properly, you’ll end up with images that look either too bright or too dark.

This is bad for both cases, an image that appears too bright will not highlight all the features properly, and a dull image is...dull!

You need to understand light better to click good images.

This is how it is done. f the sun is behind you and the light is falling directly on the subject, then you need to lower the exposure until you see a normal tonal range. On the other hand, if the sun is behind the subject, then increase the exposure until it brings shadow details on their faces.

Story Telling

When we go through pictures, we always try to find a story behind the picture. This is an art that can be learnt and perfected. When a picture speaks, it finds interest.

Go for variation and consider everything from the background to your subject to what they’re wearing and even props. For example, a picture with a birthday cake in front and a happy face clearly tells the person is celebrating his or her birthday. You can pick from there, and build a story showing their journey via photos.

Become One With The Camera

It is essential to think of your camera as a friend and understand how it works. Know how to hold your camera.

You need to support the lense of the camera by holding it from underneath with your left hand and the camera body with your right. This prevents the camera from shaking and disturbing the focal point which results in blurry pictures.

It is essential to give an enhanced touch to your picture to make it look professional. Remember that editing is no ‘downgrading’, even the biggest photographers use editing tools like Luminar.
